Our main hall is bright, spacious, and roughly the size of a badminton court. It includes a permanent raised stage with curtains, side entrances, and removable steps, making it perfect for performances, talks, and community events, such as:
The hall can seat up to 140 people in rows, including the event organisers, or up to around 100 people in cabaret‑style seating.
The use of a high‑quality laser projector and 4.5m electric screen is included in the hire fee, making the hall an excellent choice for conferences, training sessions, talks, and community events.
The hall is also equipped with a stage with comprehensive lighting and sound system, with the capacity for scenery changes and special effects for theatrical productions. The use of the stage incurs an additional charge due to the cost of electricity and the additional support required from trustees.
We provide a generous supply of folding tables and padded chairs for hirers. A fully fitted kitchen is available, equipped for catering and refreshments. Full details of all equipment can be found in our inventory here.
Toilet facilities, including a unisex accessible toilet, are located near the main entrance, with additional facilities backstage.
The hall is accessed via stairs; a lift is available for people with limited mobility.
We have a unisex accessible toilet with baby-changing facilities, suitable for parents and carers.
Our sound system includes an induction loop to support attendees who are deaf or hard of hearing.
A 4.5 m projection screen is available to support clear visibility for presentations. Presenters are encouraged to use large text and high-contrast visuals to support attendees with visual impairments.
The hall is hired on an hourly basis. We offer two pricing rates:
Standard rate – for commercial hires, local businesses, and events that charge an entry fee
Reduced rate – for local community groups and residents living within the Lakes Parish Boundary (see map here).
Hire charges are reviewed annually by the trustees. The current rates can be found here.
Hirers are expected to read and sign the Hire Agreement which can be found here.
Grasmere Village Hall operates a camera‑monitored pay‑to‑park system, managed by Cumbria Parking Services (CPS). All proceeds support the maintenance and improvement of the hall.
