The main hall is the size of a badminton court and features a permanent raised stage with curtains, side entrances and removable stage steps. The hall can seat up to 170 people in rows or approximately 100 in cabaret style seating. There is a comprehensive lighting and sound system and capacity for changes of scenery and special effects in theatrical productions. The use of the stage incurs an additional charge to cover the cost of electricity and additional support from trustees.

We have a comprehensive audio-visual system, with laser projector and electric screen, which can be used for presentations, making the hall an ideal venue for conferences and training sessions.

We have plenty of seats and tables available for use and a fully-fitted kitchen with a range of equipment. Precise details are available in the inventory here.

There are toilet facilities near the main entrance and also backstage in the green room.

Accessibility

The hall is accessed via stairs but there is a lift for users with limited mobility. There is an accessible toilet with baby changing facilities and we have an induction loop for users who are hard of hearing.

Parking

We have a car park that is a camera operated Pay on Entry Car Park managed by Cumbria Parking Services. This is a ticketless car park with payment via card machine or the RingGo App. All proceeds from this car park go towards maintaining the hall.

Anyone hiring the venue (both local & non local/commercial) can provide details of two VRMs which will be entered into the system by the booking team. This grants them free parking for those two vehicles for the duration of their event.

For ‘Local Events’ (as defined by the charging policy) the Trustees will waive the charge for parking to those persons attending the hire. An interface will be made available within the hall, which will allow hirers to enter the VRM of any attendees’ vehicles who park at the hall for the duration of the event.

Hirers must ensure that public access to the car park is maintained at all times during their hire, unless prior consent has been given by the trustees to close the car park. Closing all or part of the car park is possible for an additional fee. 

Hire Charges

The hire charges are set each year by the trustees.  There is a standard rate for commercial hires by local businesses or anyone charging entry, and there is a reduced rate which applies to local groups and residents based within the Lakes Parish Boundary, as indicated in the map below:
